A few notes.
Dear San Antonio, TEXAS - Sorry we didn’t do a pre (or post) show acoustic set. We ran out of time before, and then afterwards I felt sick. Next time we swing by, make sure to remind me, and I’ll make it up to you!
We’re in McAllen, TEXAS right now and it’s VERY HOT. For some reason we’re playing a show outdoors under a big tree.
3 more shows, and then we head home for a short break. Looking forward to it!
I’m so glad FBR signed The Swellers, they are fantastic…addictive even.
Have you seen our video on TV yet? I haven’t and I’m jealous of everyone who has. Only thing I’ve seen is our 1st attempt at a video for Letdown (the black and white one) in Journey’s at a mall. I bought socks from there, and now they are my favourite socks. I can’t get myself to buy new chucks or vans, 1, because I LOVE my old chucks and 2, because I’m broke!
We were at Craker Barrel the other day and I heard an old country song that included both a reference to a ‘big daddy’ and used the lyrics ‘I’ve got the lovesick blues.’ (I’ll admit, to think I was the first one to use a phrase like that was a little naive, I suppose).
Life is good.
1. Gotta love Cracker Barrel. Their baked potatoes (though I am sure there’s probably so much more available that’s far more appetizing, I just can’t convince myself to try anything else) are the best I’ve ever had. Something to do with how they prepare the skin before baking them, I believe.
2. Last night at, say, 2-3 in the morning I was on the phone chatting about absolutely nothing with my best friends, while subconsciously listening/watching what music videos were being played on MTV. A video I didn’t recognize (I hadn’t watched the Letdown video before, I apologize!) came on… then I saw Dan Young’s face (or, in the event that Dan is reading this since I’m reblogging his post, I should say “then I saw your face” instead) and didn’t know what was going on for all of 5 seconds. Then it dawned on me that This Providence had released a new video not too long ago, and I just watched and enjoyed the few moments of happiness/pride for the members, both past and present, as well as how far the band has made it. It made me wish I hadn’t kind of fallen in a rut as far as keeping up with my favourite bands goes. Just because I don’t enjoy a lot of the shows (people who attend the shows, rather) doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy the music… and I’m going to have to start embracing that a bit more.
